Belarusian Collection of Non-pathogenis Microorganisms deposits archaeae, bacteria, bacteriophages, yeasts, filamentous fungi and plasmids (in host сells). Three deposit options are available:

  • “open collection deposit”;
  • “safe deposit”;
  • “national patent deposit”.

“Open collection deposit” is free of charge.Information about strains deposited in the open collection is freely available in the catalogue, and the strains themselves are issued from the Collection upon request of interested parties.

“Safe deposit” means that the Collection keeps information about the deposited strain confidential for the whole deposit period. The strain could be provided only for the depositor or to third parties according to the depositor’s written resolution. This is a paid service. Maximum period of deposit is 5 years.

“National patent deposit” is applicable if the strain or a technology which uses the strain is intended to be patented in the Republic of Belarus. The Collection keeps information about the deposited strain confidential. The strain and information about it could be provided only for the depositor or according to the depositor’s written resolution. Typically, this is a paid service (see the Rules).

The Collection deposits plasmids (vectors, genetic constructions) only in host cells.

A depositor should provide the Collection with a viable culture of the microorganismand the following documents:

  1. A deposit request.

  1. A certificate that the strain is non-pathogenic (mandatory for national patent deposit, upon request of the Collection otherwies).
  2. A certificate that confirms species affiliation of the microorganism (if required, the Collection performs species identification of microorganisms on a paying basis).
