The main directions of research and prospects of scientific and technical activities:
- construction of genetically engineered strains producers of biologically active compounds;
- molecular genetic identification of microorganisms;
- sequencing the genomes of bacteria and viruses;
- molecular plant pathology;
- qualitative and quantitative analysis of organic compounds by gas-liquid chromatography and high performance liquid;
- spectrophotometry in the ultraviolet, visible and near-infrared (190-1100nm).

Scripts for processing nucleotide sequences:
1) Script “preprocess16S.py” is designed to preprocess reads from 16S regions of rDNA. It works with Illumina pair-end reads.
It’s main dedication is to detect and remove reads, that came from other samples (aka “cross-talks”), relying on the information, whether there are PCR primer sequences in these reads or not. More precisely: if required primer sequence is found at least in one of two corresponding PE reads, therefore, it is a read from 16S rDNA and we need it. Otherwise this pair of reads is considered as cross-talk. https://github.com/masikol/preprocess16S
2) Barapost toolkit is designed for determinating the taxonomic position of FASTQ and FASTA files by “BLAST’ing” and subsequent sorting. https://github.com/masikol/barapost
