“Microbial Biotechnologies: Fundamental and Applied Aspects”,
Minsk, 3-6 June 2019
XI International Scientific Conference “Microbial Biotechnologies: Fundamental and Applied Aspects” was held in Minsk from 3 to 6 June 2019.
The event brought together more than 133 scientists, representatives of research-and-development centers, institutes, universities, ministries, industry and business from Belarus (Minsk, Gomel, Grodno, Mogilev, Pinsk, Vitebsk), Russia (Saratov, Perm, Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Krasnodar), Kazakhstan (Nur-Sultan, Almaty), Latvia (Riga) and other countries, to discuss topical questions and current state in microbiology and biotechnology, share experience in enhancement of efficiency of scientific investigations and transfer of high-tech innovative technologies into the real economy sector. Among the participants of the conference – 8 academicians, 2 corresponding members, 17 doctors of science and 35 PhD.
During two conference days, 4-5 June 2019, 3 plenary lectures, 25 oral reports and 51 poster presentations on actual topics “Physiology, biochemistry and genetics of microorganisms”, “Microbial synthesis of biologically active compounds. Genetic engineering of microorganisms. Microbial Collections”, “Biotechnologies for Agriculture”, “Biotechnologies for Medicine and Industry”, “Environmental Biotechnologies” were presented. Speakers emphasized urgent directions of fundamental and applied biotechnological and microbiological researches, introduced the experimental findings on evaluation and preservation of microbial biodiversity, microbial biosynthesis of biologically active substances, construction of recombinant microbial strains – overproducers on enzymes and other valuable metabolites, development of highly effective microbial preparations for different sector of national economy.
In the framework of the conference on 5 June 2019 joint meeting of Belarussian Non-Governmental Association of Microbiologists and the East Palearctic Regional Section of International Organization for Biological Control took place. At the meeting advanced scientific achievements in the area of agrobiotechnologies were presented and current trends of ecologization and efficacy enhancement of agricultural production were discussed.
Conference participants familiarized themselves with exhibition of local and foreign manufacturers offering a broad array of biotechnological products for agriculture, industry, environmental and health protection, reagents and equipment for biological research.
On June 6 2019, the conference participants visited the 29th International Specialized Exhibition “BELAGRO-2019”, where they got acquainted with the exposition of innovative developments of the Institute of Microbiology of NASB, other organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, enterprises of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus for the agro-industrial sector.
Abstracts of plenary lectures, oral reports and poster presentations were issued in conference proceedings “Microbial biotechnologies: fundamental and applied aspects”.
